Find the Pickle

One year my Mom decided to start buying Old World ornaments for her Christmas tree. One year she bought a pickle ornament which has a meaning that the child who finds it on Christmas morning gets an extra gift under their tree. Our family can't afford a gift for every child that finds the pickle (because we like to rehide it for the kids), so we changed the meaning a bit for our family to you will have good luck the next year if you find it. The kids and adults LOVE to find the pickle everytime we come into Mom's house!

When i came home from school one day my mom told me about this German tradition at Christmas time where you find a pickle and the child who finds it gets an extra gift under the tree. I thought it was a really good idea so i went online to research and it turned out you don''t hide a real pickle you hide an ornament!

Now every year on Christmas Eve we hide the pickle and the person who finds it gets an extra gift in the morning! It's awesome and I think every family should try the German tradition FIND THE PICKLE!!
