Swimming Party
What games can I play in the water?
Swimming Party Response:
I don't know how big your pool is or if you have a diving board, so some of these ideas may or may not work for your party.
Ring Chase
Purchase several pool rings or toys that have weights in them and sink to the bottom of the pool. Get 5 or more per team. Each team should have their own color. Throw them all in the pool and on your go one member from each team can jump in and retrieve one of their team's rings. If they bring up the correct color, the next member of their team can jump in for a ring. If they bring up the wrong color you have two choices... either it counts for the opposing team or them have to throw it back in and count to 10 before their next team member can jump in. You should decide that before you start the game. First team to retrieve all of their rings, WINS!
Jump or Dive
Take turns having one person call and one person dive. The diver takes a high bounce on the diving board and just as she is about to dive, the caller yells either "jump' or 'dive'. The diver has to try and follow through with the shouted command. This can be very funny because someone who is expecting the caller to yell "jump" may suddenly have to get their body into diving form or if they think the caller will yell "dive" they may have to change to jumping form. Give points to those who get it right.
Swimming Pool Taxi
Participants are divided into two teams. Teams begin at opposite ends of the pool from each other with one air mattress each. The first member of each team straddles their air mattresses and paddles around the outside edge of the pool. When they get back to their starting position, a second team member gets on with them and once again they paddle around, till they get back, etc. Mounting the mattress is always fun and this game gets harder rather than easier. The first team to complete the laps with all team members wins. If you think this is too hard or you don't have good enough air mattresses, do this as a relay with one member circling, getting off, and the next getting on, etc.
Ping Pong Ball Hockey
Divide into two teams. Determine where your goals will be. You'll need a water gun for each team member and a ping pong ball to play. Instead of sticks, teams use water guns to move the ping pong ball to the designated goal zone of the opposite team.
